Thanksgiving is celebrated in the USA every year on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time where people express how thankful they are for the things they have in life: family, friends, a home, their health.

As a yearly tradition, we celebrated in Kindergarten in a more playful way. The children were asked to take part in a Disguise the Turkey competition along with their families, to see which turkeys would not get eaten on Thanksgiving Day. The results of our competition were complete after the students of 1st Gymnasio voted on their favourite disguised turkeys.

In addition to the competition, the children watched a video about the history of Thanksgiving, learned a song about the Thanksgiving feast and drew what they were thankful for.

On Thursday, 24th November, the children of our Nursery school dressed up in their fancy outfits and took part in a Thanksgiving feast. They ate a traditional American meal which included turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, salad, a fruit sauce and pumpkin bread. They said a thankful prayer in English and we discussed what they were thankful for before having our meal.

It was a day filled with warmth and love, celebrating all the precious things we are lucky to have in our lives.

How did you spend your Thanksgiving? What are you thankful for?
